Cloth Wipes
Cloth Wipes Save Money And Help You Go Green
Before paper towels were invented everyone used cloth wipes for cleaning, cooking, and much more. But today people have got so used to just ripping off a paper towel that they don’t think about what it’s costing them and our earth’s resources. Practically nobody uses cloth napkins anymore either, and that is a shame. I love to go out to eat at a fine restaurant because they always serve you with a cloth napkin. It just seems more civilized.
I’m going to spill the beans here about one of my husbands faults. On the weekend he would go in and out of the house and always washed his hands when he came in. Paper towel after paper towel seemed to get used and left laying on the counter top. I would find paper towels by his easy chair, by the sink in the bathroom, and in the kitchen. It was a paper towel nightmare!
And although it was great that he wanted clean hands, it was costing me a fortune in paper towels. Picking up after him I have gotten used to, but since I started working from home I have tried to live on a budget and papers towels were getting expensive. My husband not only used lots of towels, he wanted Bounty, not a cheaper brand.
I Found The Solution to Great Cleanup And Saving Money – Cloth Wipes
For years I have at times kept a bag of old rags for cleaning in the garage or anywhere that was so dirty I would want to throw the rags away, and I still do that. But for in the house I found a solution that works very well and my husband is happy as a clam. I went to a store we have in Texas called “The Dollar General”. You probably have something similar in your area. I found that they had thin washcloths bundled together in packs of 18 rags for $4.00. I spent $12 and started with 54 washcloths. You can’t get rags of any kind at this price that I have found previously.
When purchasing the rags I also purchased two cheap colorful buckets (about 9 inches high) and placed them at the end of my kitchen cabinet. In one bucket I placed the clean folded cloth wipes for easy access. The other bucket is to throw the dirty cloth wipes in when you are through with them. This system has worked so well I wish I had thought of it years ago. I wash about 3 to 4 loads of clothes every week and just empty the bucket of dirty rags into the wash. These cloth wipes in the kitchen are used in place of paper towels for napkins, spill cleanup, and just drying our hands after washing.
I still keep a couple of rolls of paper towels on hand in case of a grease spill, or to drain fried foods on, but the rest of the time we use the cloth wipes. I have been doing this for almost 4 months now and love it. I have saved countless dollars on paper towels and I have helped our earth resources by saving trees. Paper is of course made out of wood and we only have so much of it on this earth.
This new system works so great I have now gone back and purchased another set of rags just to keep on the bathroom counter top for cleaning up. I hope you will give this system a try and save some money at your house. This method may save you less than $100 per year, but if you can save that much on ten or twenty items each year it really adds up.
