Frugality For Financial Freedom

Frugality Frees Finances

Frugality is a word that people associate with being poor, or doing without.  However, frugality can actually help you live a better life, with more money, and free from stress.

There are some people that take frugality to the extreme by not turning on the lights at night, or not buying anything just for fun.  Having said that, it is important to understand that most people buy or waste money on things they could very well do without.

To me frugality is just being smart with your money, and making it go a lot further.  Most of my readers already know that I left my career almost two years ago to stay at home.  Being frugal(common sense) has helped me to continue the same lifestyle I had when I worked, but without all the stress.

About seven months ago I started ghostwriting for website owners and now have some income, but you can make it without working most of the time if you want to bad enough.  The key for me was that I had enough money in savings to get by the first five months while learning how to save money.

Frugality Saved Me $275 A Month

If you have not read the article on how I cut $275 per month out of my expenses right away, you can read it here.  But you can also buy, cook, and freeze in bulk to save tons of money.  If you have not signed up for my newsletter, do so, because you will get a free copy of my book, “Delare Independence Day And Get Kitchen Freedom“.

Many people have never set foot in a thrift store, and I guess it is because they think the clothes, dished, or furniture is olde and run down.  Well, the truth is that a good portion of it is at times.  But, if you keep a list of the things you need, and visit those stores frequently, you will find items in great condition.  In fact, I had been wanting a new pressure cooker for several months, but the thought of spending $36 for one stopped me.  However, one day in a thrift store, I found a brand new one for $10. The box had been opened but the pan had never been used.  Even the owners manual was still in the box.

My husband wanted a microwave to heat up his lunch at work, but they would not buy one.  At the thift store I saw one for $10.  Before I left I had the sales clerk plug it up and cook a cup of water.  Pleased with the outcome I bought  the small microwave.  My husband has been using it for eight months already and is enjoying his home cooked lunches I make for him.  He loves my frugal attitude, and love me working from home.  He has the best of both worlds now.  I bring in some extra money, but I always have dinner on the table when he gets home in the evenings as well.

Frugality Is Mostly Common Sense

Put on your thinking cap and buy the kids play clothes at thrift stores, or be sure and buy generic brands at the grocery store and over the counter medicines.  A dollar here, and two dollars there, adds up to hundreds of dollars.

Don’t forget things like using flourescent light bulbs, and keeping the lights turned off when not in use.  Even small things like these will help.

Living frugally can be a lot of fun, and once you learn to use it in all areas of your life, you will be surprised to see extra money at the end of the month.

Knowledge is power, so learn how frugality can change your life for the better.
