If your paycheck is being eaten up and you wonder where all the money goes, then sit down with pen and paper and I will show you.  I took my expenses to pen and paper and here are a few things I discovered.  I was spending almost $300.00 per month just on phones, Internet, and satellite.  I know some people spend even more, but to me, that was such an eye opener.

I called my phone company and bundled the satellite, Internet, and phone. This saved a bunch of money right off the bat. With this under my belt I was excited to see what else I could cut back on.

After a little more investigation I was able to cut back even more on the bundle because I joined a movie program called Netflix,  where they send you all the movies in a month you want to watch for just one low monthly fee.  No late fees, and they even pay the postage.   Needless to say, I cut out all those extra movie channels I was paying for!

I started using coupons and buying store brands to save more money ,and started running all my errands on one day of the week to conserve fuel. This one trick surprised me on how much time and money I saved.

Also you should shop around for your house and car insurance to make sure you are getting the lowest price. Do not just accept what your agent tells you anymore, check it out for yourself.

Two more things that really brought my expenses down are changing to flourescent light bulbs and cooking from scratch and in bulk. We stopped going out to eat so much and started cooking great meals at home.

It does not always take rocket science or even a strict budget to get your finances in order. Just a little common sense and a little work should do it. Try seeing what you can come up with and put all that extra money into your next vacation fund.
