Well, with the swelter heat going on for days and days with no end, we enjoy
cooling off  in the sprinkler or swimming pool.  Nothing feels better than cooling
off in the swimming pool when you are so hot.  We rub on lotions and sun block
and all kinds of stuff to keep from burning, yet many times we still get sun burn.

Well, have you tried vinegar?  That’s right, vinegar. Many put soothing creams
and lotions on their sunburn to make it feel better but in the end the skin still
peels.

When I first got married several years ago, my mother-in-law had taken all of us
swimming.  Well, the older folks and the real fair skinned people got sun burned.
My mother-in-law was one of those that burned.  I was telling her that I would rub
some cream on her if she needed me to.  She went to the closet where she kept
cleaning supplies and brought out a bottle of vinegar.  She started pouring it in
her hands and sloshing it on her sun burn and rubbing it in. I thought she had lost
her mind. She explained that vinegar would take out the sting and would keep
your skin from peeling as well.  I stayed with her that whole week and she didn’t
peel one bit and she was never in any pain from the sun burn.

About 3 weeks later, I had come home from work and I turned on the evaporate
cooler that I had in the bedroom. It blew really well on a certain spot on the floor
so I just laid down on that floor to cool off. Immediately, I was in pain on my back.
I jump up from the floor and I saw I had just laid down on a scorpion.  My back
was on fire and a big knot was starting to appear. I was going to go to the phone
to call my mother and ask her what to do, when I saw my bottle of vinegar on the
kitchen counter.  I though why not. It worked on the stinging fire of sun burn. I got
my son to slosh some vinegar on my back and rub where I had been stung.  It
felt wonderful. In about 15 minutes the knot was down and I never had any side
affects of the scorpion sting.

Vinegar has a way of drawing out poison from the skin.  Once when my husband
had hurt his foot and was in pain, I cover his foot in a paper sack that had been
saturated in vinegar.  Not long after that, the pain was gone.

Vinegar.  It’s great!
