When Dog Meets Skunk!
When Dog Meets Skunk!
Zebo
Doesn’t he look just precious? Yeah, right, real precious until Zebo and Mr skunk meet each other! I think for some reason he thinks it is the same thing as chasing a cat when he sees one. NOT! A couple of days ago Zebo met Mr. Skunk and his new friend left him with an unpleasant odor. I had always heard that you had to bath a dog in tomato juice to get the smell out.
At first I decided to just bath him, spray him with fabric freshener, and then hit him with the talcum powder. Although I must admit he smelled better, there was still that whiff of skunk that just kept stinking things up! So I made that trip to the store and picked up some tomato juice. I put Zebo in the bathtub, wet him down and then poured an entire giant bottle of the red stuff on him, making sure to rub it in. The smell from wet dog hair and tomato juice was almost as bad as the skunk smell.
Well, I rinsed him off and dryed him and low and behold he smells good again. So the moral and tip of this blog is that if you have heard something many times before, then it is probably true.
My next problem was that before we realized Zebo had gotten sprayed, we let him in the house and he ran to the couch before we could stop him. My couch smelled like it had been sprayed just like the dog. I tried fabric freshener on it and to no avail. I knew I could not put tomato juice on it so I put my thinking cap on. I mixed up a bowl of carpet and upholstry cleaner and brushed it on the couch. Still the smell was there, so I added some ammonia to the mixture and brushed the couch again. This worked very well. The place smelled like ammonia so I sprayed the fabric freshener again and left the couch to dry. All is well in the household again so if your “precious” meets with Mr. Skunk you now know what to do!
